AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE BRAIN BOX OF ELITE VIBEZ AWARD

AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE BRAIN BOX OF ELITE VIBEZ AWARD

 Can we meet you sir?

Am Hamid k kareem,  popularly known as HKK.

Can you extensively explain in details; What is Elite Vibes Award?

Elite vibez award is an innovation of Elite vibez magazine. The idea behind the award was incepted in 2010. We had different youths in institutions who were turning up socially,  entrepreneurial y and academically but they were not recognised for their efforts.  Therefore we decided to create an award in the state whereby outstanding youths in the  state can be celebrated. We are proud to say we are the first awarding body in the state,  and our efforts have boosted individuals and even motivated others to start their own awards and various other businesses.

With your Explanation, this is a big project ; What inspire you build this project?

Yes it is,  inspiration comes from God..  But I was fortunate to have had friends and colleagues over the years who made it easy and inspired me to continue and take it a notch higher.

In the cause of preparation, What are the challenges encountered?

Well the Chinese have a saying " an able man has many burdens"  Therefore challenges must arise the higher you strive and overcoming this challenges shows how able you are.  Foremost is the lack of sponsors in Ilorin.  Ilorin market place is made of smes who do not make enough to support entertainment and those who prefer to support churches or mosques because they think youths are scampers or find it hard to trust youths with anything.  So support and sponsorships has been one of the major challenges.
What is your story to glory; That make you one of the celebrities in Kwara State today despite all barriers?

Lol my story.   My story is long and short depending from where I start from. I think kwara state university played a major part in whatever I do today.  I have repeatedly said this and would continue to say that "the kwasu entrepreneurship culture has no equal"  I only wish the school can find a way of supporting the budding entrepreneurs in the school more.  I started by selling recharge cards in kwasu.  Am sure you are wondering recharge card!  But yes.  I did.  When I resumed at kwasu in my 100 level, the first day I got to the school hostel I needed to make a call and realised their is no one selling card in the hostel and the whole school till you go out of the school gate.  I went back home and haven realised I needed cards I bought packs of MTN card for my own use. My room-mates were my first customers and suddenly I was selling cards to the whole hostel and sometimes the girls hostel also. The success of the recharge card business and my various other ventures back then like printing and Co served as a bedrock for my magazine and later the awards.  I was already popular because of the business ventures so it was easy to get to my target market and because our needs were the same I could better tailor the product to their needs.

How do you feel to be the first to archived 200000 audience to your web site in Kwara state?

Well it's gratifying but not surprising our award website has always garnered interest and goes further than the shores of the country.  I remember in 2012 I received a call from someone claiming they just voted for an individual all the way from Malaysia.  So it's basically the next step in the evolution as
the fan Base increased.

What do you say to your Fans and people that sees you as a role model?

Humility, honesty and tenacity of purpose goes a long way in business and in life.  When you are humble you are better able to learn,  when you are honest,  your word becomes gold   and when you are tenacious and never give up,  you will see the light at the end of every tunnel
